You've created so much during this event, so here's a round to celebrate each other's achievements!

This round is CLOSED as of 7PM on August 24 EDT. Late fills may be posted, but they will not receive points.

RULES

Recommend at least three fanworks from main or bonus rounds. Your recommendations don’t have to be connected in any way, and you do not need permission to recommend a work.
Don't rec your own work. You can recommend things created by your own team, but please spread the love to other teams too.
Each recommendation must include at least two sentences explaining why that fanwork is awesome. Please use the format specified below.
You may recommend as many works as you like, as long as they are posted separately in groups of at least three.

Theme: Hikaru no Go Fills, PUNCH TO THE GUT (feat. Sai) Edition

Why is this work awesome?: I'm reccing these two not-fills as one piece, because the second is a direct follow-up to the first and while Alex insists they aren't "real" fic due to being stream-of-consciousness and in lapslock, the emotional impact is very, very real. In the first, Sai spends his afterlife playing against the God of Go until he finally surpasses his teacher and is invited to take the God's place. In the second, Sai is allowed to visit Hikaru one final time, to play him in one last game of Go, before becoming a God and losing direct contact with humanity all together. The informal, dare I say "sketchy" writing style really works for the content, laying out what's happened with Hikaru's life in thick, broad strokes, and I legitimately teared up by the end, I adore this piece with all my heart.

Why is this work awesome?: This one's a joke fill using art from the longer comic fill Alex did, but I still love it. It's a riff on that "Lie down, try not to cry, cry a lot" meme and it's a pretty suited to the part of the series being referenced. Plus I love Alex's little grayface character holding the Hikaru no Go manga and turning to look at the camera like, are you serious? Don't cry? How do you expect me to do that? Same, grayface character.

Why is this work awesome?: I adore this comic. It's expanding on one of the most heartbreaking, suckerpunch-to-the-emotions things that happens in Hikaru no Go, while doing so with grace and dignity and this sweet, sad poignancy. I love the framing, the questions, the sense of longing to the words, especially combined with Alex's lovely art, and the limited palette where everything is grayscale with the smallest touches of yellow. I sincerely choked up over the final image, the final word, and for that it's worth it. (and do look carefully at that final image: it's a very subtle gif, and what's buried in it hurts the most.)
