SASO 2015 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).
PLAY BALL! For this round, we'd like you to take inspiration from songs, sayings, poems, and other kinds of famous words.
Because this is our first full round, please read this post carefully before proceeding!
This round ends at 7PM on June 13 EDT. Countdown Timer.
RULES
- Submit prompts by commenting to this post with a quote attributed to a specific person or character, along with any ship/ot3/etc. from one of our nominated fandoms.
- Example: "Hi-ho, Kermit the Frog here!" -Kermit the Frog
- The quote can come from anywhere. Famous people, poetry, songs, books, movies, your neighbor, etc.
- Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Yachi & Kiyoko). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Yachi/Kiyoko). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!

PROMPT: TEAM AKAASHI KEIJI/BOKUTO KOUTAROU

On the surface, Bokuto has moods. He wears his instantaneous emotions and reactions loudly on his face. His body language is far less subtle than the average person’s; he droops or inflates depending on what it is he’s reacting to.
Below the superficiality, there are longer stretches of emotion that run deeper in him. These, he tries to hide. And to an extend he is successful.
They are dangerous, quiet buildups that make his outward emotions flare more dramatically, tipping the scale one direction or another. It’s uneven, unbalanced, and whichever way it leans doesn’t always correspond to the hidden parts of Bokuto that are upsetting his outward emotions.
To people who don’t know him, or don’t know him well—really well, it seems normal. Maybe the surface moods came up to protect the inner ones. Maybe he’s learned to act this way. Neither of them can say; Akaashi only met him in high school, and Kuroo hasn’t known him all that much longer, but a lot can happen in four years.
“Hey, do you want to come over tomorrow? I know it’s short notice, but I was thinking we could have a hot pot party.”
Akaashi switches his phone to the other ear and looks down at his homework, which he had had to stop doing when Kuroo called. “I’m a little busy with exams right now.”
There’s a slight pause. “Yeah, I kind of figured you might be. Don’t worry about it, then.”
“Is everything okay?” He has a suspicion.
“I can handle it.”
“Tetsurou,” Akaashi says with a hint of irritation. “Just because I’m not with you doesn’t mean I don’t want to know what’s happening.”
He sighs. “Well, the team hasn’t been doing super well, and we have exams too.” There’s more that he isn’t saying, but this time Akaashi knows what he means.
“I’ll be there.”
They make it a surprise. Akaashi takes the train up in the afternoon and manages to get a seat and do some studying on the way. Kuroo picks him up and takes him to their small apartment. Bokuto’s at class until the evening, so they plan to stay in while they wait for him to come back. Akaashi means to do more studying, and for a while he does, but it’s not entirely Kuroo’s fault when they end up trading soft kisses, fingers curling together loosely on top of the table. And then that they wind up wrapped up under Kuroo’s covers for an hour or so, fully aware that they’ll probably make it back there later with another body.
Bokuto comes back around 6:30 and doesn’t even look up before taking off his shoes. They’re at the table again, and Akaashi doesn’t say anything, just smiles because it is good to see him again, since it’s been a month at least.
“Dude, we have a guest,” Kuroo calls, sounding full of himself. It was his wrangling that got Akaashi to come down anyway.
Bokuto looks down at the shoes next to the door, maybe notices there are some unfamiliar ones next to his and Kuroo’s then snaps his head up. “Keiji!” he practically yells, dropping his bag unceremoniously and bounding over to them. Akaashi doesn’t even have time to stand up before Bokuto is on him, thick arms wrapped around his shoulders, pressing kisses to his neck.
“Hi, Koutarou.” He wraps his arms around Bokuto’s back and squeezes gently.
“I can’t believe you’re here! This is the best surprise ever!” Bokuto’s words are muffled by Akaashi’s skin, which he’s still pressed against.
Eventually Kuroo pulls him away to tell him the second part of the surprise: they’re having hot pot. Akaashi is surprised he didn’t figure that out from all the surplus meat and vegetables in their fridge, but then again, maybe he’s not. They sit and eat and talk. Kuroo keeps smiling at them both, looking pleased with himself. Bokuto has even more to say than he did the last time they saw each other, when he and Kuroo were visiting over the break, and Akaashi finds himself wondering what kind of happiness this is.
He worries. Worries that this will be forcing an up that will just make the down a steeper descent. Worries what happens when he leaves. Hell, worries about the ever-looming question: What is he doing after graduation? What happens if he moves somewhere that he can’t easily visit? What does that mean for the three of them?
He puts it out of his mind as they settle in to watch a movie. Bokuto insists that they all squeeze onto the couch under a pile of blankets, including the ugly one Kuroo’s grandmother crocheted for him when he left for college. Bokuto takes his and Kuroo’s hands beneath the blankets and keeps talking during the movie, so Kuroo tickles him and he tries to hide behind Akaashi, who just holds him down.
They miss the last half of the movie and end up first on the floor, then, somehow, but as Akaashi predicted, in Kuroo’s bed again. This time with more blankets that they need less, what with the body heat of the three people.
Bokuto sighs into the back of Akaashi’s neck, and he knows he’s not asleep. He feels Kuroo’s hand brush his arm and knows he’s not either. It’s quiet, and the moonlight is bleeding through the cracks in the blinds, illuminating the three of them buried under a thin layer of protection from anything but their thoughts.
“I’m glad you came, Keiji,” Bokuto says quietly. There’s an apology between the spaces in his words.
