FILL: TEAM FUKUTOMI JUICHI/KINJOU SHINGO, G
Words: 524
Asahi walked back into the clubroom with an ashen face.
“So, how did it go?” Noya prodded him. Tanaka leaned forward with interest as well, raising his eyebrows.
“It…” Asahi seemed out of breath after just one word. He took a few deep breaths, steadying himself. “It went well, I… I think I’m dating them now…”
Noya and Tanaka both whooped. Noya’s hand shot up. “Yeah! High five!”
Tanaka picked up Noya so the high five was closer to the ceiling now. “Real high five!”
Asahi looked off, away from them, seeming more than a bit shell shocked. “Oh god, I’m dating both of them now.”
Noya’s hand dropped and Tanaka put Noya back down.
“Isn’t that a good thing though?” Noya asked. Any given person on the team certainly would have thought so. Asahi had been orbiting the couple for quite some time, and it seemed a sort of inevitable that eventually all three third years would end up together.
“Yeah, yeah,” Asahi said, seeming unconvinced himself. “It’s good it’s…” He buried his face in his hands. “No. It’s not good. I have two boyfriends now.”
“So?” Tanaka said.
Asahi’s groan was muffled in his hands. “That means I have twice as many people I get to disappoint when I screw this up.”
Noya sighed. “Asahi…”
Asahi scrubbed his hands down his face, and eventually his fingertips came to rest on the scruff of his chin. “This is too much. I have to… get out of this somehow…”
“Asahi, you idiot!” Tanaka shouted.
Asahi leaned back slightly, a bit shocked by the outburst.
“You’re not going to screw this up,” Tanaka (loudly) continued. “And they like you too so they’re not going to be disappointed in you for no reason. So shut and give us high fives!” Both Noya and Tanaka rose their hands up at this.
Asahi – with the kind of caution warranted around fine china and priceless antiques – slowly moved his hand towards them and slowly clapped his hand to each one.
“Yeah!” Tanaka said. “Now, go enjoy hanging out with your boyfriends and stop freaking out over dumb things!”
Asahi nodded slowly. “O-okay…”
“Asahi!”
Asahi stopped in his track. Just outside the school grounds he’d found Daichi and Suga standing around. Daichi’s arm was slung over Suga’s shoulders and Suga was giving that smile that made sunlight look cold.
“There you are, Asahi,” Daichi said. “We were wondering where you wandered off to.”
“Oh, right… I…”
“We were going to Daichi’s place,” Suga said. “We were hoping you’d come with us. We can get our homework done and then hang out.”
“Oh, I…” Asahi looked at them, both smiling and hopeful. He knew they must know he had some sort of reluctance, but they said nothing. “Yeah, I… that sounds… really nice.”
Daichi laughed and leaned over to wrap his other arm around Asahi. “Of course it does. Now, come on! The sooner we get our homework done, the sooner Suga will let us do something else.”
“Hey!”
The both of them laughed, and Asahi blushed slightly. Suddenly, he felt really stupid for being nervous in the first place.
