Bonus Round 4: Official Art

Bonus Round 4: Official Art

This round is CLOSED. Late fills can be posted, but they won't receive points.

Memorable canon moments, bizarre omakes, tantalizing magazine spreads—this is the round to explore them all. Bring out your screencaps, promotional art, and manga pages, and let's talk about what really happened.
Please read the rules carefully before posting!

RULES
  • Submit prompts in the form of a canon screencap from one of our nominated fandoms along with a ship. Screencaps can be from an anime or manga, as well as any other kind of offshoot media, e.g. official art, drama CD covers, light novel illustrations, magazine covers, and/or caps from games. Doujinshi, fan-made games or any other fan-created work should not be prompted, even if you receive permission. Only prompt screencaps that are taken from a piece of canon media.
  • Keep your prompt concise. Don't prompt a whole manga chapter, for example.
  • Upload the cap somewhere (imgur works well) and post here with the images themselves or a link to them.
  • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Riko & Momoi). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Riko/Momoi). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
  • Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work inspired by the cap.
  • Fills can be directly connected to the cap, e.g. panel redraws or writing fic that fleshes out the moment that was capped or that fleshes out what happened directly before/after, but fills can also be more indirectly linked. As long as the work is somehow inspired by the cap, it counts.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

do you ever regret writing something

How long had it been lingering under the Earth’s surface, admiring that gorgeously genius setter from afar?

Far too long, the gremlin thought, but this had to be done. The first time it had felt the desire for that boy proliferate within the confines of its inhuman chest, it had not yet harnessed enough power to break through the barrier of dirt and rock. Patience would reward it, and so it spent the next year in waiting, the admiration in its body only blooming and spreading a nurturing warm all over its limbs.

During the time it took to prepare, the gremlin learned more of this human boy that it had come to love so much. His name was Kageyama Tobio, and though the gremlin was not quite fluent in Japanese, it took to practicing the syllables of that human name until they rolled off its tongue smoothly. Kageyama Tobio.

The next order of business came from observing human mannerisms, the tradition of departure and arrival. The difficulty was in deciding which phrases were the best to used, but the gremlin judged based on the emotions that washed over upon hearing each option. I’m here worked the best in their context, because surely Kageyama did not know he existed yet… But he would, and the gremlin would make sure of it.

Still, the humans felt very afraid of anything that did not look like them or one of the animals that lingered on the surface, and the gremlin didn’t look close to either. It took to trying to create a human mask from the minerals around him, a task that helped him pass the time until he could emerge from his hiding place.

On the last of his 365 days of waiting, the gremlin felt a sudden energy surge through it, and knew. It was finally time to meet the one it had admired for so long. The gremlin sucked a breath in, felt its antennae wiggle, and allowed the minutes to pass by as its body mustered the great amount of energy needed to make the trip up. It had been waiting a long time, but that time was finally here—and in its mind, it could imagine how their first meeting would go, the million scenarios of their blooming relationship playing out for the first time.

In one prolonged burst of energy, the gremlin began to feel the earth above him splitting until the gym lights were shining down on him. Though there were the humans screaming in the distance, the gremlin felt relieved; from here on out, it could make the trek upward. There was finally a way to see its beloved.

The climb was a lot more difficult than expected. Who knew horribly useless its limbs were when trying to hang onto protruding rock and step up ledges? Nonetheless, when the gremlin focused on its goal—Kageyama—it felt revitalized. It was going to finish this all in one piece, and come to see the human he had longed for.

The mere thought of Kageyama was enough to speed up the gremlin’s pace, and it made its way toward the lights until it stuck out an arm and found itself patting a strangely smooth surface. It hoisted itself upward, only to find the apple of its eye staring down at it—and how joyous this occasion was! The gremlin was delighted, quick to wrap its fingers around Kageyama’s ankles in a tender embrace that he knew humans enjoyed (for the most part). It took a deep breath before speaking the greeting that it had practiced for so long.

“Kageyama, I’m here.”
