Bonus Bonus Round: Encore

Bonus Bonus Round: Encore

SASO 2015 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).

This is your last chance to get fills for unloved prompts from all previous rounds. Let's party!

(Pay attention to the prompt format this round, located below; it's different from previous rounds. Don't forget about the "Recs" bonus round either!)

This round ends at 7PM on August 22 EDT. Countdown Timer.

RULES
  • NO NEW PROMPTS ALLOWED. It has to be a repost from a previous bonus round.
  • You can repeat any previous bonus round prompt, whether it received fill(s) or not.
  • You can repeat your own prompts.
  • One prompt per post, post as many times as you want.
  • If you're posting a prompt that's not yours originally, please check the toplevels to avoid posting repeats.
  • Fills work the same way as every other round: don't fill your own or your teammates' prompts, including old reposted prompts. It works like this:
    • Your teammate posts a prompt that was originally posted by a different team? You can fill that.
    • Someone else posts a prompt originally created by you or your teammate? You cannot fill that.
    • You post a prompt originally posted by another team? You can't fill that either.
  • Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
  • Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.

FORMAT
Bonus round shenanigans all happen in the comments below. Brand-new works only, please.

Required Work Minimums:
  • 400 words (prose)
  • 400px by 400px (art)
  • 14 lines (poetry)
There is no max work cap.

PROMPT: TEAM [YOUR SHIP]
  • Replace [YOUR SHIP] with the name of the team you belong to, including Grandstand or Sports Teams
  • Place the prompt's relationship in the first bolded line of the comment. Including the canon isn't required, but it's nice.
  • Link to the original post and cite the original prompter and their team.
  • Visual example. For your copy-and-pasting convenience:
FILL: TEAM [YOUR SHIP], [RATING]
  • Replace [YOUR SHIP] with the name of the team you belong to
  • Replace RATING with the rating of your fill (G - E)

Posts not using this format will be understood to be unofficial discussion posts, regardless of what they contain. They, like all comments in this community, are subject to the code of conduct.

SCORING
These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:

First 3 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 4-10: 10 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21+: 2 points each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

Etc.
If you're hunting through the prompts looking for what to fill, a good trick is to view top-level comments only.

[Part 2/2]

“Maybe I should just keep being you, Sakamichi,” Midousuji says over a boiling cauldron that night. They snuck into the potions room again to work on the antidote, but Onoda still hasn’t figured out how they managed to mess up their potion so badly that this happened. He’s trying a few generic potions, and hoping maybe they’ll stumble across something.

His wrist still hurts. It’s been healed, but they said he still needed to keep it in a brace for the night, and it’s still stiff. But somehow, it seems to bother him more, the more Midousuji talks.

“After all, you want Slytherin to do well, right?” Midousuji muses. “And they won today. Without you. Imagine how well they would have done if I had put my mind to being a chaser. Maybe I could even try to replace your red-head friend as Slytherin’s seeker.”

Onoda doesn’t look at Midousuji. Midousuji always says a lot of things during potions – things Onoda is almost certain he doesn’t really mean. Onoda tries to pretend this is just another day in potions class.

Midousuji uses the advantage of having Onoda’s smaller frame, and slips between Onoda and the book he’s reading. “You have the ideal frame frame for a seeker, Sakamichi. It’s amazing that you aren’t one already. But without the skill, it makes sense. But now, I have the skill and the frame. I could be unstoppable.”

Onoda tries to look away, but finds it hard to break away from Midousuji’s blank stare coming at him from his own face.

“Besides,” Midousuji continues with a smile, “you don’t make a half bad Ravenclaw, Sakamichi. Who knows why you even ended up in Slytherin to begin with.”

Onoda slams the potions book so hard, that a few vials rattle together. One tumbles off the table altogether, smashing and littering a pink dust across the floor. Onoda gets up without preamble and walks out of the room.

Onoda crumples by the door, sinking to the ground and pulling his knees up to him. He can’t get small enough, not in Midousuji’s body. He’s large and gangly and everything is too big and fits wrong. Onoda wants to cry, but Midousuji’s body doesn’t seem to feel obliging in this either.

It’s several minutes before Midousuji peeks through the door. “Do you give up, Sakamichi?”

Slowly, Onoda nods. “You’re… you’re right. We should just stay. I knew I… I never should have been in Slytherin.” His hand drops to the stone floor, tracing invisible patterns. “I’m not ambitious. I’m not cunning. I think all of those things are great but… The hat said I had potential, but… I always sort of knew it was wrong.” He sniffs against the sleeve of his robes. “You’ll be a way better Slytherin, Midousuji.”

Midousuji laughs, falling down to the ground in front of Onoda. He props himself up on all fours, leaning forward to shove his face close to Onoda’s. “Better than you know. You didn’t even figure out my plan.”

Onoda looks away. “What plan?”

Midousuji follows him, not letting him move their faces away from one another. “I rigged the potion. You didn’t mess it up. I added stuff to it. To make the body switch potion.”

Onoda stares at him, wide eyed. “You did… what? Why?”

Midousuji rocks back onto his heels, grinning. “Because Sakamichi. You’re the best at potions. And I’m not. But I need to be the best. So, I need you.”

Onoda flounders. “But… Why like this?”

“Your friends didn’t want you partnered with me,” Midousuji says simply.

“You… you thought I would abandon you as my partner?”

Midousuji shrugs. “It was possible.”

Onoda leans forward, a bit more than he means to, and ends up shoving his face in Midousuji’s face this time. “Then why didn’t you just ask me about it?”

“You could have said no and left. This way, you were stuck.”

Onoda blinks at him. “Change us back!”

It’s Midousuji’s turn to stare blankly. “Sakamichi… you just said...”

“Change us back!” Onoda says, fumbling. Midousuji scrambles back slightly, but Onoda keeps leaning forward. “Change us back, or show me the potion you used so I can do it myself.”

“No.”

“Why not?”

“My plan worked,” Midousuji says, as if it’s a defense for everything. “You said so yourself.”

“I won’t leave you as your potions partner,” Onoda says. “If you need me to prove that you’re the best at potions, fine. But give me my body back!”

“No.”

Onoda fumbles in his robes for Midousuji’s wand. When he pulls it out and points it at Midousuji, it’s hard to say which of them is more surprised.

“Do it,” Onoda says, equal parts order and begging.

Midousuji smiles, the small slack of Onoda’s tongue lolling out as much as possible. “I didn’t know you had it in you, Sakamichi. Fine. But the potion recipe is in the restricted section.”

Onoda stands up, still pointing the wand at Midousuji. “Sh-show me.”

Midousuji stands, still smiling. “Maybe you’re not so bad at this as you think, Sakamichi.”

“You sure you’re okay?” Imaizumi asks. His arm has been lightly brushing Onoda’s own arm for the better part of the morning, as if half of him wants to wrap an arm around Onoda and make sure he’s not falling deathly ill.

“I’m fine,” Onoda assures for the hundredth time. “It was just something I inhaled in potions class. The professor found out one of the restricted ingredients was spilled recently, but no one noticed. I was one of only a few people that inhaled it, so.”

“Is that why Midousuji was acting weird too?” Naruko asks.

Onoda nods quickly. “Well, we’re partners, so of course we were both nearby it.

Imaizumi makes another strangled noise at this.

“It’s fine,” Onoda says again, a bit more forcefully this time. “Besides, I even got an extension on the potions project, so no harm done.”

“If it means you spending less time outside of class with Midousuji, then all the better,” Imaizumi mutters.

Midousuji inspects a brown powder inside of a small vial. He’s holding it so close, that his tongue threatens to dip into it.

“Put it down,” Onoda says, simply. He doesn’t grab for it. He doesn’t even look up from his book. Just demands it.

Midousuji regards him, and then puts the vial down. “Of course, Sakamichi.”

A few rows back, Imaizumi turns to Naruko. “Are we sure he’s back to normal?”

Naruko blinks at Onoda. “Well… whatever that is, I think it’s better than normal, don’t you?”

They watch, perplexed, as Midousuji asks Onoda to pass something to him. Doesn’t demand it. Politely asks. Onoda complies and gets a thank you for his trouble.

“Maybe,” Imaizumi says.

Wahhh thank you for the fill! I really enjoy your take on this prompt. Having Midousuji do it on purpose just so Onoda would continue to be his potions partner is just like him! I enjoyed reading this! Thank you for the fill :D
