Bonus Round 1: Quotes

SASO 2015 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).

PLAY BALL! For this round, we'd like you to take inspiration from songs, sayings, poems, and other kinds of famous words.

Because this is our first full round, please read this post carefully before proceeding!

This round ends at 7PM on June 13 EDT. Countdown Timer.

RULES

Submit prompts by commenting to this post with a quote attributed to a specific person or character, along with any ship/ot3/etc. from one of our nominated fandoms.
- Example: "Hi-ho, Kermit the Frog here!" -Kermit the Frog
- The quote can come from anywhere. Famous people, poetry, songs, books, movies, your neighbor, etc.
- Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Yachi & Kiyoko). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Yachi/Kiyoko). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
Fill prompts by replying to the prompt with your quote-inspired fanwork.
Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.
You cannot fill your team's prompts or your own prompts.

SCORING

These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:

First 3 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 4-10: 10 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21+: 2 points each

All scored content must be created new for this round.

“What kind of girls do you like?” Toudou asks one day, while everyone’s at the diner. He’s got a little notebook out, and a pen, ready and poised.

“Isn’t that none of your business?” Arakita asks back. “What’s the notebook for? Are you looking for tips or something? Write down ‘be less annoying’.”

“You’re useless,” Toudou hisses, and scribbles something in his notebook. He shoves it into Arakita’s face. “Read it!”

Arakita’s gaze skims across the phrase. He makes a face. “I’m not saying that out loud. Or in my mind.”

Toudou pulls the notebook back and reads out what he wrote: “Toudou Jinpachi is a perfect ten!”

“That’s great, Jinpachi,” Shinkai says, nodding.

“Strength of character,” Fukutomi says, “is very important.”

Everyone stares at him, puzzled.

“Weren’t you asking about what everyone likes in girls?”

“Yes!” Toudou says, and he makes note of it on his page. He looks up at Fukutomi. “I would have assumed as much, though. Shinkai, have you got a more interesting answer than either of these two?”

“Hmm,” Shinkai says. “I like girls who eat carrots.”

Arakita stares and then jumps in his seat a little, looking worried. Toudou purses his lips, head tilted to the side as his hand hovers over his notebook page. Fukutomi frowns.

Shinkai smiles back at them.

“Do you mean your--” Araita starts, but Toudou interrupts him.

“He means girls who are healthy! They love vegetables. Right, Shinkai?”

“Ha ha,” Shinkai says. “Yes. That is what I meant.”

Toudou busies himself with writing in his notebook.

“You didn’t mean your rabbit?” Arakita asks, eyes narrowed.

“Carrots, Yasutomo,” he says seriously.

Fukutomi looks concerned.

Shinkai’s in the dorm kitchens, cutting up some vegetables. He’s got some broccoli, lettuce, and carrots. He washes them all thoroughly. He cuts the leaves off the broccoli, cuts the lettuce into smaller pieces, and cuts the tops off the carrots. He puts the good stuff in one box, and the rest in another box. He goes to Usakichi’s hut.

Usakichi’s been getting fat, which Shinkai finds delightful. She’s so cute, and soft, and roly-poly, but all the stuff Shinkai’s been reading on rabbit care says she should be getting more exercise. He’ll have to let her out of her hutch a bit more frequently, and look up tips online for activities. He inspects her chew toy and decides he’ll have to get a new one soon.

“Maybe I can find one that looks like a bike!” he says to her. He waits a pause, and says, “you’re right, that would be a difficult shape to chew on.”

Shinkai sits with Usakichi for a while, just petting her and talking about his day. He mentions Toudou’s strange questions at the diner, and everyone’s reactions to his answer. When she starts to get restless, he finally lets her go and reaches for the container of vegetables he’s brought.

“Here you go, Usakichi. Some broccoli leaves,” he says as he lays them out. “And some lettuce.”

Usakichi comes to inspect the food, sniffing at it. She starts nibbling on the lettuce.

“Ah!” Shinkai says. “You’re right, I forgot the best part.” He pulls out the tops of the carrots. “Some carrot tops for you!”

Shinkai lets himself lie on his side while he watches Usakichi eat. He reaches for the actual carrot bits in the other vegetable container, a bit miserable.

“I don’t like carrots enough to eat them each time I get you the tops,” Shinkai says. “And you’re not supposed to eat them at all.” He sighs. “I really wish there were someone around who eats carrots so I don’t have to. I would like them a lot.”
