Bonus Round 3: FSTs
Bonus Round 3: FSTs
This round is CLOSED. Late fills can be posted, but they won't receive points.
We're halfway through all the bonus rounds now. If you're like us, every love song on the radio seems to apply to your OTP. In this round we'd like you to serenade us with some of your top picks!
This round ends at 7PM on July 11 EDT. Countdown Timer.
RULES
- Submit prompts in the form of a short playlist (3-6 songs) and a ship from any of our nominated fandoms. Submit only the track listing and a link to where they can be listened to; the idea is for others to interpret what you present. You may also link to lyrics if you would like.
- Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Riko & Momoi & Alex). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Riko/Momoi/Alex). Please don't say "Any pairing," either.
- Create content based on the playlists of others! Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
- Fills may be in any form you choose (except for another FST of course) as long as they are inspired by/fit the mood of the soundtrack they are filling for.
- Remember to follow the general bonus round rules, outlined here.
- You cannot fill your teammates' prompts or your own prompts.

"You look happy."
Imaizumi is so focused on trying to pump air into the tires of his road racer that he almost doesn't even hear her. The nozzle isn't cooperating and keeps popping off the valve, and it's really hard to use the pump with just one hand. It's hard to imagine how he could look happy sprawled out on the asphalt next to his bike, trying to do a job made for more hands than he has.
She's standing over him, almost but not quite blocking the sun. He has to shield his eyes. "Do I not usually look happy?" he asks Miki, returning his attention to his bike.
"No, you do," Miki says, kneeling down next to him, wordlessly holding the nozzle steady so he can pump the air into the tire. "You just look...happier. It's good. Keep doing whatever you're doing."
"Okay, weirdo," Imaizumi says, but with a little smile shared between the two of them, the kind he only ever reserves for Miki. He screws the cap back onto the valve, throws the pump back into the club room, and hops on his bike, waving goodbye at Miki as he rolls down the road.
The wind against his face feels good, and he breathes the air deep into his lungs. He glides down the rear gate slope, pedals hard through town, slowing down a little when the buildings disappear and trees pop up along the road instead. There are fewer automobiles here, where the road stretches into the horizon, so he doesn't have to concentrate so hard on staying out of the way of trucks and cars.
Imaizumi lets his mind wander to what Miki had said earlier. He is happy lately, probably happier than he's ever been, but it's news to him that other people can see it. He's not one to wear his feelings on his sleeve, and it occurs to him that he ought to feel self-conscious about letting other people know what's going on in his head. Miki's strangely perceptive, so now that he thinks about it he's not really surprised she's noticed something. Naruko wouldn't notice anything unless it was dancing in front of him, wearing a cycling jersey and challenging him to a race, but what about Teshima and Aoyagi?
The sound of bike wheels, spinning fast, pulls him out of his reverie, and he hears a familiar voice float in the air. "I-Imaizumi-kun!" He's about to slow down so Onoda can catch up, but before he even adjusts his cadence Onoda's pulling up beside him, panting and grinning and shining like a ray of sunlight. Who needs the stars when there's Onoda?
"Miki told me you went for a ride, so I sprinted all the way to catch up!"
Imaizumi lets Onoda catch his breath for a moment. "I would have waited for you, but I thought you were going to hang out with Naruko after school today."
"I was! You're right," Onoda says, pushing his glasses up his nose. "Naruko said he was going to go home by himself, and we could hang out some other time, and that I should probably find you?" Huh. Maybe Naruko was more observant than Imaizumi gave him credit for.
"I'm glad you're here," Imaizumi says, looking straight ahead at the road. There's silence, no sound except the wind whipping past his ears. He turns his gaze to Onoda, and the other boy is grinning, a blush spreading over his cheeks that's just not from exertion.
"I-I'm glad I'm here too! I'm glad I'm here with you," Onoda says, and Imaizumi feels his own face flush. He wishes he could somehow wrap his arms around Onoda while they're riding their bikes; it seems a little silly to pull over and stop just for a hug.
"I have an idea!" Onoda practically shouts. He looks surprised at the force of his own outburst. "Do you want to go to Akiba? We're already going in the right direction! It can be...our first date!"
Imaizumi hadn't planned on riding that far today; they weren't too far from where he originally wanted to turn around and head back.
This thing with Onoda is new. He's trying so hard to keep his cool, but if Miki (and Naruko) had noticed his feelings, then he's probably doomed forever -- and in that case, how could he say no?
"Let's go," he says, and Onoda's face lights up. Imaizumi takes a hand off of his handlebars and rests it lightly on Onoda's back, just for a few seconds. It's not a hug, but it's good enough.
They ride in companionable silence for the rest of the way. Once they start to get nearer to their destination, Onoda hums the Love Hime theme excitedly. They park their bikes at the station, and walk to Onoda's favorite shops. No matter how many times Imaizumi comes to Akiba, he never really feels like he belongs there, but at least he's with Onoda.
They stop at a capsule machine outside a collectible store. Onoda feeds some coins into the machine, cranks the lever, and catches the capsule that falls out in one smooth, practiced motion. He twists it open and gasps. "Imaizumi-kun! Look, it's a special-edition holographic Kotori sticker!!" He pulls the sticker out of the capsule and rotates it in his grip, letting the sunlight hit it from every angle. Imaizumi leans over his shoulder to look.
"It's a really nice sticker," Imaizumi says.
Onoda looks up at him with wide eyes and thrusts the sticker into Imaizumi's grip. His fingers close over it before he even knows what's happening. "I want you to have it! So you remember this trip to Akiba with me," Onoda says.
Imaizumi puts the sticker back in the capsule, careful not to bend or rip it, and pockets it.
They stop in a few stores, and Onoda oohs and aahs over some of the new merchandise, but doesn't buy anything else. Imaizumi only has enough pocket money with him to buy them both some ice cream. They walk down the streets of Akiba, eating up their ice cream and licking their sticky fingers.
The sun gets a little lower in the sky, and Onoda mentions sadly that he has some homework he still needs to do. They head back in the direction they came from. Imaizumi looks around the street; they're not alone, but the only people still out are far enough away that they don't notice when Imaizumi grabs Onoda's hand. Onoda smiles so wide and Imaizumi feels something in his chest burst as Onoda laces their fingers together. Their hands are still a little sticky from the ice cream, but Imaizumi barely notices it.
They arrive back at the station where they parked their bikes, and Imaizumi takes his hand back to fish the capsule out of his pocket. He removes the sticker, peels the backing off and presses it to the frame of his bike, just under the saddle. Onoda looks so happy that he might cry.
Imaizumi takes Onoda's hand again without thinking, lacing their fingers together. They both look down at their bicycles.
"We can't really hold hands while we ride home, Imaizumi-kun," Onoda says sadly, squeezing Imaizumi's hand. Imaizumi squeezes back; the last thing he wants to do is let go.
They're still holding hands and standing in front of their bikes when the train rolls up and stops in front of them. The doors open, releasing a rush of cold air, and a few people get on the train a little further down the platform.
Imaizumi and Onoda look at each other, then down at their joined hands, and wordlessly they roll their bikes onto the train and sit down. They hold hands the whole way home.
