A shipping olympics favorite, this round uses quotes of all sorts to fuel your creative endeavors.


This round is CLOSED as of 7PM on July 21 EDT. Late fills may be posted, but they will not receive points.

RULES

• Submit prompts by commenting to this post with a quote attributed to a specific person or character, along with any ship/ot3/etc. from one of our nominated fandoms.
  • Example: "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." - M. Gandhi
  • The quote can come from anywhere. Famous people, poetry, songs, books, movies, your neighbor, etc.
  • Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. (This is not the sports anime gen olympics.) Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Makoto & Rin). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Makoto/Rin). Please don't say "Any pairing," either!
• Fill prompts by replying to the prompt with your quote-inspired fanwork.

SCORING

These numbers apply to your team as a whole, not each individual teammate. Make as many prompts/fills as you want!

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 prompt points per team per round)

For fills:

First 3 fills by any member of your team: 20 points each
Fills 4-10: 10 points each
Fills 11-20: 5 points each
Fills 21+: 2 points each

Dear Tezuka,

As you well know, my life is dedicated to data. For many years, I’ve taken the data of everything and everyone around me as a way to truly learn about the world I’ve been brought to. Some would say it’s weird, others have called it “stalkery”, but you, my friend, have never berated me for it.

You’ve never cracked a joke or brushed off my life’s work and I truly appreciate it. Never doubt that ever. But it’s because of this that I’m writing you this letter of warning.

For years I’ve taken as much data on you, Tezuka, as I can. At times you were as tricky as Fuji, but more often than not, cracks appeared through your stone walls to give me glimpses, I hypothesize, of the person you are behind closed doors. It used to bother me, and maybe it still does, that you never seemed to feel comfortable enough with me to fully test this hypothesis, but I do understand the idea and need for privacy, so I will never hold that against you.

However.

With the things that have fell through the cracks, I can no longer stay silent. I have binders full of notes on you, Tezuka. Pages upon pages of data detailing everything you’ve done for others whether it was the team, the school, the grandmother crossing the street, my own parents, the local kids at the tennis courts, your old roommate- I intended to write the full list here but I suppose that you would prefer me to get to the point.

The point is...You never do things for yourself, Tezuka. You never let yourself relax and fully enjoy a moment. You feel this need to make sure that everyone else is okay over yourself, and trust me I have over a hundred individual examples of this if you try to fight me, and that they matter more than any need or desire you have. Particularly one certain desire.

I honestly never wanted to tell you this, lest you thought of me as a “stalker” like the others, but I was actually there that day when you almost confessed. I had been coming back from meeting Kaidoh for the first time in months, his high school training schedule back then had been quite erratic, when I spotted both of you. It was a moment of shock for myself to see you smiling, for once. I tried to take a picture of it with my cellphone, but cameras back then were so low on pixels, that the beauty never shined through. I digress.

This occurance is important because it wasn’t only the fact that you were smiling while you were walking at night with Oishi, but the fact that the two of you were walking so close together, shoulders and hands bumping multple times, and that it felt a lot less like two friends meeting up together after a while and a lot more like romantic feelings were in involved.

I specifically remember feeling a bit of shame then, a rare occurance, because I watched you take Oishi’s hand, grip it tighter than any tennis racket in your grasp, and pull his attention toward you. You stood there for a while, long enough for my thighs to start burning from hiding crouched down. Until you just let go and kept walking, leaving Oishi behind with a...well, I didn’t understand it back then, but I suppose that I would call it “longing.”

Which brings me to my point, Tezuka. That was four years ago. For four years, I’ve been aware of this and watched you hold back when it came to personal feelings, especially when Oishi became officially involved with Kikumaru, and I honestly cannot stand to see you hurt anymore. Last week’s team reunion to see Echizen before The Open proved this once again to me and, speaking as your long time friend, you need to stop.

You need to tell him, Tezuka. As someone who...was in a similar situation, it’s better to get them out there so they are out of your mind and easy to step over to move on. But then again, knowing Kikumaru and the slight infuation he had with you, you never know. (This is only a half joke, in case you were wondering. I have a binder full of this specifically, if you’re ever interested.)

But, for your sake and the ones, like myself, that do care about you, Tezuka…
