This round is CLOSED as of 7PM on August 24 EDT. Late fills may be posted, but they will not receive points.

RULES

Because there's that part where they climb up the elevator cable and I thought Bokuto and Kuroo we're gonna try that and die. And then they talked about jumping together and I thought the elevator was gonna fall and they die. ...I'm.. glad that they just started to make out....... Anyway! This was really pleasant to read and I like how both Kuroo and Bokuto were written. That part where Bokuto tells Kuroo to stop touching him and then tells him to come back was my favorite. Why is this work awesome?: I'm still screaming about this fic. It perfectly captures the sometimes awkward disjointedness of Abe and Mihashi's relationship in canon, with Abe desperately trying to figure out what he's doing wrong and getting frustrated when other people seem to make connections with Mihashi when he can't seem to. The scene at the end is also so brilliant because so much is said in so few words and these two seem to finally, finally understand each other (also pinky touches!!!).

Poor Toudou though, for someone so infatuated he's really not very good at picking up the hints Makishima is dropping. This whole story is just incredibly sweet and in-character.

The starkness and intensity of the lines only adds to the atmosphere. Why is this work awesome?: I absolutely love the way this is written -- the daily happenings of their lives, the reminder that They Do Not Touch. It’s the contrast of complete normalcy, of sweet domesticity, with that constant niggling feeling of death that’s always there, that really sets a great tone for this. The cling wrap kiss is a classic, and I’ve always loved the normalcy vs weirdness of that, too.

This artwork is so gorgeous, there is so much depth in the simplicity of the palette, why am I having such intense feelings over a reindeer and a peacock, AND ALSO BY THE WAY!! Read the linked descriptions for the animal choices, they are such good and perfect choices, and then come back and look again at all the richness of detail in the wash of shadows and think, well, at least iwaoi have a certain kind of eternity together.

(I definitely needed this in my life.) This is such a heartbreak moment, and it’s a remix!! And how he was so comfortable that he thought he could just ask Kuroo to date him without being afraid. That kind of situation sounds so lovely. But then he sees Kuroo being interested in someone else. Annghh I just really like this fic because I feel this situation is pretty common and it all felt really real. Why is this work awesome?: I have a major soft spot for this ship and the prose is so gorgeously written? I loved the description of how Tsubasa sees Honoka (as a lantern on a New Years shrine!!) and I also like that the conflict between liking Honoka and feeling proud of her achievements versus Tsubasa's disappointment at having been beaten comes across here as well! This is a really beautiful fill.

First of all, there is just something so terrible about talented Kageyama being denied a chance to rise to the fullness of his talent due to the station of his birth, and that something just makes this entire fill so beautifully, wonderfully uneasy; a delightful frisson of unease from start to finish. It’s the way Oikawa has every card to play, and he does so with great joy, and I love how Oikawa just keeps pushing Kageyama, despite having all the power here. The deeply intimate gesture of undressing your superior is played up really well here, there is so much tension in this power dynamic, and I love this Kageyama so eager to do good, he doesn’t even know he’s playing into this game.
