Profess your love for your favorite ships with the power of song! In this round, we ask you to create fan soundtracks and use them as inspiration for new fanwork.

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible.

RULES

• Submit prompts in the form of a short playlist (1-6 songs) and a ship from any of our nominated fandoms. Submit only the track listing and a link to where they can be listened to; the idea is for others to interpret what you present. You may also link to lyrics if you would like.
• Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Lilia & Sara). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Lilia/Sara). Please don't say "Any pairing," either.
• Create content based on the playlists of others! Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
• Fills may be in any form you choose (except for another FST of course) as long as they are inspired by/fit the mood of the soundtrack they are filling for.

The crown sits sloppily on Mei's head so Miyuki takes it off entirely. He picks up the boar-bristle brush, applies a little ambergris to the tips, and then smoothes it over Mei's hair. The pale gold locks shine like wheat in the fields, sunbleached and ready for reaping.

His hands don't tremble as slowly, stroke by stroke, he coaxes Mei's hair into some semblance of behaving. Mei could do with a trim, really, to shorten the edges of his hair and stop them winging out but there's nothing Miyuki can do about that. They check him too to let him smuggle in something that could be a weapon and they certainly won't let Mei have the luxury of a barbar visiting him.

Any barber they chose to cut his hair would prefer to cut his throat anyawy. There is nobody left that Mei can trust except Miyuki.

(He should have trusted Miyuki from the start and then perhaps he wouldn't have found himself in this situation.)

The mirror in the room is dinghy and small. Mei looks into Miyuki's eyes instead and sees a prince whose end is coming too soon. Mei looks into Miyuki's eyes and sees a love that has never died, not even when Mei turned away from his counsel when Miyuki would not join the uprising.

The air in the room is heavy with words unsaid and suddenly, Mei can't bear it anymore. He places both hands on Miyuki's shoulders and says as earnestly as he knows how, "You were right."

Miyuki's startled expression nearly crumples into grief; the effort Miyuki makes to reign his emotions in is visible, a tremble of his lower lip betraying him only briefly.

"It takes the prospect of death for you to apologize?" Miyuki asks, pressing Mei's hair flat with his hands.

"That wasn't an apology," Mei says mock-haughtily, straightening his shoulders as Miyuki lifts the crown.

"Of course not, your highness. How could I have ever thought so." The wry quip might've made Mei laugh under other circumstances. As it is, it's his turn to have his lower lip tremble slightly.

"Your majesty," Mei corrects flatly as the crown settles on his head. "They executed my father this morning."

Miyuki's hands still, then sweep down Mei's hair again, tracing against his jawline until he's tipping Mei's face up for a kiss.

It's brief but sweet, so sweet that it brings the tears to his eyes that he'd refused to shed for his father's murder.

He wipes them away savagely with the back of his hand when the kiss ends. He won't go crying to the gallows block.

The axe comes down with such force that the crown goes flying off Mei's head; without thinking, Miyuki lifts his hands and catches it.

Epistrophe (Greek: ἐπιστροφή, "return") is the repetition of the same word or words at the end of successive phrases, clauses or sentences. It is also known as epiphora and occasionally as antistrophe. It is a figure of speech and the counterpart of anaphora. It is an extremely emphatic device because of the emphasis placed on the last word in a phrase or sentence.

It's by virtue perhaps of the fact that Oikawa is two years older that Kageyama is such an echo of his power, that Kageyama is the shape of Oikawa's prowess, perhaps blurred larger, like a watercolor bled through ink lines, like the shadow of a figure grows longer as time passes from noon to night.

Makishima’s flight back to England is scheduled for 4:10AM.

“That’s nothing!” Toudou laughs. His voice is a sing-song but it hangs sharp in the air between them. Everything feels a little precarious and unreal for them after the sun sets -- they’ve always favoured meeting each other cresting the hill just as the sun comes up behind them, yellow and orange and brilliant, like chasing after an eternal pennant hung from the peak. “It’s just like getting up for practice! Plenty of time! Like we used to!”

“Eh, I’ve already shipped my bike back,” Makishima says. His head is turned away from Toudou who sits across from him, watching the moonlight lance white and sharp across the low table in Toudou’s living room. They’re both sitting cross-legged on the floor, and despite the piles of pillows propped comfortably around them, it still feels strangely formal. Toudou makes a noise of disappointment, quiet under his breath, and something about the lack of dramatics sinks a feeling so heavy inside Makishima’s lungs the room suddenly feels too closed and small. But the ceilings are high, the window spanning almost an entire wall and there’s nothing but twilight that reaches all the way up the walls.

“But maybe we can watch the moon set or something,” Makishima mumbles instead. He thinks it sounds romantic. Isn’t that what Toudou wants? Makishima curls his fingers into his palm and hates how unsure he feels about everything. Maybe he was wrong about Toudou, too. He still doesn’t know why he stopped by here so late in the evening. He was only back in Japan for a short time to attend to some family matters. He’s been trying to make Toudou into an afterthought, spacing replies to Toudou’s letters from every five, to every ten, to sometimes the long distance of months in between.

“We can do whatever Maki-chan wants,” Toudou replies. It’s so soft it’s almost like a gift slid hesitant across the table. There’s something of the twilight in Toudou’s face now and his eyes are dark and Makishima thinks Toudou is beautiful like this, too, but he wants to see Toudou’s face alight with the sun rising over the peak, wants to see it tilted at the bright blue of the summer sky, sometimes, sometimes. For the times it’s not his own face looking up at the peak with victory clipped to him like a pennant.

“Like this is fine,” Makishima says as they miss the moon set anyway, grey clouds stretching out across the night to eat all of its white light. Toudou doesn’t kiss him by the green neon light of the billboards that burn the time into the skyscraper facing them, but he does smile wide on the Happy Birthday, and his mouth was so close to Makishima’s as he leaned over the table that it might as well be one anyway.

"I've been so lonely since Maki-chan left," Toudou complains. Out of he corner of his eye, he's watching Arakita hopefully but Arakita does not seem to be paying attention so Toudou raises the volume of his voice a little more.

"It's really lonely without Maki-chan!" Toudou says.

Arakita rolls his eyes and looks up from the textbook he's scowling. "So go skype him."

Ah hah! He has Arakita's attention! The rest will be easy now.

Excited by this sign of surrender, Toudou presses his advantage.

"But Ara-chan, that's not enough. That's just like watching a movie of someone cycling instead of actually cycling. Wouldn't you rather be out there on the road, the wind through your hair, the wheels spinning over the asphalt?" His rhapsody seems to be working - Arakita's rolling his eyes again! True, that's not the most encouraging sign but it's better than Arakita just staring at boring diagrams.

"Then go get a plane ticket and visit him," Arakita says, staring at the textbook as if maybe Toudou will get the hint and go away.

"Plane tickets are expensive and I can't just fly off in the middle of the semester." Toudou heaves a deep, ovrly dramatic sigh and gracefully throws himself onto the couch. He sprawls out, managing to get his head against Arakita's shoulders and smoulders at him with 67% intensity.

(He's spent a lot of time practicing smoulderin in the mirror ever since the release of Tangled. He can calculate his smoulder intensity very accurately.)

"I'm so lonely," Toudou repeats, just in case Arakita doesn't get the hint.

Arakita shoves Toudou irritably off his shoulder, eyes narrowed. "Stop fucking saying that. If you're lonely, do something about it."

"I'm trying!" Toudou howls, patience finally snapping iin the face of Arakita's deliberate (please don't tell him it's natural!) idiocy. "I am doing everything but tearing your trousers off!"

"...Makishima is not in my trousers," Arakita informs Toudou after a stunned second during which he tries to sidle away from him. It's possible the loss of Makishima has driven crazy, after all.

"I KNOW THAT." Toudou's not feeling at all attractive right now, or even remotely attracted to Arakita anymore. This is worse than courting Makishima was and Makishima made Toudou chase him all over the mountains before he'd even listen to Toudou's confession!

Toudou considers whether he even wants to have sex anymore, decides that the answer is 'NOT WITH ARAKITA' and storms off, leaving a very baffled Arakita behind.

Just to be on the safe side, Arakita texts Fukotomi that he thinks Toudou has snapped because Makishima's not there.

The problem with them both, Shuuzou thinks to himself, is the fact that they're both just as hotheaded and stubborn as each other.

It's been two hours since they've argued and the apartment has been plunged into an icy kind of silence as they ignore each other, because it's the only thing that's going to stop them from arguing with each other again. Shuuzou hates it, but he hates arguing with Tatsuya even more. This isn't the first time it's happened and he knows that it's not going to be the last, when they both have such strong personalities, when they both know exactly what they want and have compromised enough to not want to compromise any further with anything in their lives.

The worst part is when they know that they're having an argument that is already over, and one or both of them just can't stop anyway until they're both annoyed. This has never been the way that Shuuzou wanted to get under Tatsuya's skin.

Luckily for both of them, they also know that when they're this annoyed with each other, all they need is space. Shuuzou loves Tatsuya too much to want to ruin this, and he knows that Tatsuya feels the same. It would be far too easy, for either of them, to cut their losses and run from a bad situation before it gets worse, but Shuuzou has no interest in losing anything more in his life. He trusts Tatsuya enough to believe that he won't do it either.

He's proven right when Tatsuya walks into the kitchen while Shuuzou is making coffee, with a quiet, "Shuu."

That's all Shuuzou really needs, before he's turning to Tatsuya, reaching a hand out. Tatsuya takes it with a tired smile and lets Shuuzou pull him in until they're resting their chins on each other's shoulders and just standing there, wishing that hurt feelings could be mended with something as simple as a hug.

It's a good start, Shuuzou supposes. So is the way that Tatsuya draws a breath and says, "I'm sorry. I wish I knew when to stop, instead of just poking at things and making them worse."

"I've dealt with so many argumentative brats in my life already," Shuuzou mutters, "this is nothing."

"I'm sorry anyway," Tatsuya says, and Shuuzou knows that if he doesn't accept this apology, it's only going to lead to another argument because Tatsuya is still feeling a little defensive, a little tender, from knowing that he's in the wrong.

"Apology accepted," Shuuzou tells him with a gentle kiss to his forehead. "Stop beating yourself up about it, Tatsuya. I'll make coffee for both of us."

Tatsuya smiles, pulling away from Shuuzou to let him get back to what he was doing, but still close enough that they're within easy reach. It's all Shuuzou needs right now.
