SASO 2017 is over, but this round is perpetually open to new fills (no new prompts).

Profess your love for your favorite ships with the power of song! In this round, we ask you to create fan soundtracks and use them as inspiration for new fanwork.

Please read this whole post before commenting to ensure that your team gets the most points possible.

RULES

• Submit prompts in the form of a short playlist (1-6 songs) and a ship from any of our nominated fandoms. Submit only the track listing and a link to where they can be listened to; the idea is for others to interpret what you present. You may also link to lyrics if you would like.
• Your prompt MUST include some kind of relationship. Platonic relationships are indicated by an "&" between the names (e.g., Lilia & Sara). Non-platonic relationships use "/" (e.g., Lilia/Sara). Please don't say "Any pairing," either.
• Create content based on the playlists of others! Fill prompts by leaving a responding comment to the prompt with your newly-created work.
• Fills may be in any form you choose (except for another FST of course) as long as they are inspired by/fit the mood of the soundtrack they are filling for.

Daichi finds him, finally, because the toes of Asahi's shoes stick out from behind the row of lockers where he's hidden himself. He'd take a moment to appreciate how someone as big as Asahi would have thought something as small as a locker could hide all of him, but it's been fifteen minutes since the start of practice, and his overwhelming concern is whether something is wrong.

"Asahi?" Daichi calls.

"Shit," comes the tremolo of Asahi's voice.

"Asahi, hey, I--"

Daichi never wants to assume anything about his teammates or their lives, especially not with people he hasn't known very long, but right now with the way that Asahi looks Daichi fears the absolute worst.

"C-could you just?" Asahi is weeping, he's shivering, he's struggling to breathe, but being so quiet about it, it's no wonder it was hard to find him. Asahi gestures in the air something that looks like a 'keep back' but Daichi is stricken enough to fall to his knees in front of him and tentatively reach out.

"Asahi, what... is your family? Are you?"

Asahi coughs a sob out like a sick laugh, scrubs his face and his eyes with fluttery hands and scoots himself back to press in to the wall. Daichi catches the hint and flops back on his ass to the floor. He's starting to feel really nervous for Asahi. What the hell is happening?

"Can I do anything? Do you -- water?" Asahi shakes his head, continuing to hack the quietest sobs Daichi has ever seen attempted. "I -- shit, food? Can I -- can I call someone?"'

"No!" Asahi manages. He covers his face with both hands and attempts to take some deeper breaths. They hiccup in his chest and Daichi's imagination hears in them any number of horrible, horrible things. Quiet giant be damned, Daichi's about to run and go get coach, get anyone, when Asahi starts again: "I -- I get--"

"What can I get?"

Asahi shakes his head and takes two more deep shuddering breaths. "Panic," he says, inbetween them. "Panic attacks."

"Oh," Daichi says. He immediately looks to where he'd left the door to the room wide open. He looks back at Asahi and points over. "Should I?"

Asahi nods, and Daichi practically runs to the door, peeks out into the hall to see if anyone is coming, if anyone heard. It looks empty, so he shuts it, and pauses at the switch on the wall. "The lights?"

Daichi sees Asahi's hand wave something like a 'No, thanks,' so he leaves them. Daichi walks back and hesitates a little, Asahi's head has dropped between his knees, where his legs have stretched out a little. How does someone so big seem so small?

He sits seiza in front of Asahi. His breath seems to be calming down. He has so many questions. Daichi doesn't know anything about panic attacks, not really, although he'd always thought of them happening to people who weren't like Asahi. They sit in silence for a minute or two, while Daichi's thoughts race and Asahi's shoulders calm down.

"Did, uh, did something happen?" Daichi asks.

"No," Asahi sighs. His voice sounds wrecked and ravaged where it's muffled in his knees. "Sometimes there's a reason, and sometimes it just."

"Happens," Daichi supplies.

"Yeah."

The air conditioning in the room kicks on and Asahi jumps. Daichi, despite himself, laughs a little. Asahi tenses, and Daichi's about to apologize (how could you be such an ass, Sawamura?), but then, he hears Asahi laughing a little, too. And then they're both giggling, and Asahi's red face, shiny and gross from crying, is up and out of his knees, and Daichi feels such a relief that he reaches forward and touches Asahi's shoulder when their laughing ebbs away.

"Are you okay?" Daichi asks, kind of smiling, kind of worried.

"It's... it's happened for a long time." It sounds like there is a long story there, and Daichi realizes that he might never get to hear it. He nods, and Asahi smiles, a little sheepishly. "I was -- I was kind of hoping it wouldn't be a problem at practice, but. Well."

"For what it's worth, it didn't happen at practice. It happened in the lockers."

Asahi laughs a little, rubs his nose on his shirt. "Yeah. My, ah, family knows. About them. Now you do, too."

Daichi nods again, squeezes Asahi's shoulder. "What can I do to help, if it happens again?"

Asahi looks down at his shoes. "I'm -- I go see a -- wow I guess I'm just going to tell you. I -- I'll have a new doctor? Two weeks. I might. It could get better in two weeks. So hopefully they won't be a problem, but. If I -- I guess I'll just..."

"Maybe a signal?"

"Like what?"

"You could tell me something, or a hand signal like we use for plays." Daichi lifts his hand from Asahi to gesture a little in the air. "You could tell me you need some AC."

Asahi laughs. "That would work."

"Okay." Daichi resists the urge to settle his hand back on Asahi again. That would be so weird. He shifts to sit like Asahi, knees bent, hands around his shins. "You need a moment to cool-down."

"Alright," Asahi agrees.

"This works even better, because if you have a scary face while you say it, all our senpais might think you're just" -- Daichi pulls a monstrous exaggerated face -- "really angry."

Asahi yelps. "I hope I don't look like that."

"No, man, no! You don't," Daichi laughs. He rests his chin on his knee. "Do you want to be alone if you have another?"

"I usually do," Asahi says, scratching his head, "but, ah, it was. This time, anyway?" He reaches out to touch Daichi's forearm and looks up at Daichi's face with something grateful and solid and more sure than Daichi's seen on his face in the last ten minutes.

It kicks up a spark in his chest.

"Yeah?" Daichi breathes.

Asahi smiles. "I'm really glad you found me."

Himuro is graceful on the court, still. Midorima hasn’t stopped appreciating that; even if things grow more bitter and sour between them, a rotten citrus fruit forgotten and left out on the table for a month, a year, two years, even if distance is not a balm on their wounds, and even if it leaves a knotted, mangled scar like those on the knees of Midorima’s oldest teammates, mortgaging extra minutes now against more surgery in the future, even if they bury all their weapons under frozen ground Midorima will never stop appreciating that. Graceful doesn’t get you points; picturesque isn’t worth more unless it’s the slam dunk contest (which isn’t real basketball anyway; it doesn’t count for anything).

But there’s something to be said for the way the ball flies through the air off of Himuro’s fingers when there’s still a lot left on the shot clock, coming out of a snarl of outside traffic to fall in for two or three (he should take more threes; Midorima always tells him that and Himuro had always said it wasn’t worth the risk). It’s the kind of thing that television personalities say makes them want to watch basketball; perhaps the sport never would have taken off at all if not for aesthetics.

And still, it makes Midorima’s heart constrict. He misses Himuro, his soft touch, the bite behind his words that even Midorima could here, the way it had clashed with his own sincerity in a comfortable way. He misses being with Himuro, the tentle nod of Himuro’s head, waiting for the train with shitty fast food Himuro had convinced Midorima that they should buy.

But when Midorima had turned away, when Midorima had drawn back, hesitant like a spooked deer (like he shouldn’t be, but like he’s used to being anyway, the way hurt and uncertainty have made him that cannot be erased in a few years when things are good) Himuro had not followed him. He had waited; he had not crossed the divide. It’s not Himuro’s fault, per se; at least it’s Midorima’s fault just as much. They both need to be the ones who are chased, not the chaser, not when it’s like this (Himuro has no problem making the first move, but not with stakes this high, not with this much risk; he’s the bluffer and the waiter regardless of the chips on the table even if he’s the one to put a few more chips in.

Wakamatsu’s a little bit tentative with both of them sometimes, a little unsure in ways Susa didn’t know Wakamatsu knew how to express (of course he’s capable of it; he’s had his moments right from being a first-year, blustery and confident but still not quite certain of his role on the team, not big enough yet to be the center he would someday become and sticking to the wing, just a temporary stop on the way that he hadn’t quite adjusted to before he got big enough and their older forwards graduated; even that had looked different on him, although it was a long time ago, Susa supposes).

“What are you afraid of?” Susa asks him, and Wakamatsu looks at him like he’s feeling awfully guilty.

He runs his hand over his hair. “That you two get tired of me. You know, I can be.”

He can be loud, obnoxious, a handful—like Susa and Sakurai aren’t. Susa ruffles his air up again and leans over to kiss his mouth. “Nah. Never.”

“We’re better than that,” Sakurai announces, flopping down next to Wakamatsu and tucking himself under Wakamatsu’s arm.

It’s pretty fucking cute, Sakurai with his lip jutting out like it is too often over the smallest slights (or something that isn’t a slight at all in the first place), Wakamatsu with his cheeks slightly pink, his arm falling so naturally as a weight on Sakurai’s shoulders. Sakurai reaches for Susa’s hand and Susa gives it without question, without thought or hesitation. Sakurai’s grip is strong, warm; Susa smiles at him.

“Yeah, we are,” says Wakamatsu, echoing Susa’s smile.

Confidence has never been one of Wakamatsu’s issues; it’s never been a problem for any of them. They’d all gone to Touou, after all, a place that shows no mercy and lets no one who’s all that easily intimidated stick out more than a week, ruthless but rewarding. It’s not the best fit for everyone, not for those who need to be coaxed out of their shells, given patience and a long lead. And in some respects, maybe they do need those things, with each other, with things apart from the basketball courts. And that’s fine, too; Susa knows how to give that, how to work with it. But more importantly, he knows how to work with Wakamatsu and Sakurai themselves, as people. They are better than that; that’s something they all know—separately, but stronger together.

Hyuuga feels a little bit weird when Kasamatsu doesn’t show up at the street court. It’s not like he’d broken a promise, it’s just that both of them have been coming pretty regularly; maybe it’s not a written or spoken deal but it feels like one of those unwritten rules of sport, a courtesy. It hurts, like Hyuuga had thought he was a little bit more important to Kasamatsu than Kasamatsu is to him. It’s a burn, a sting, a bad shave. It’s a little bit empty, like a water bottle buried deep in his bag and he pulls it out to find nothing inside, just taking up space. (Yeah, okay, if he wasn’t coming he wouldn’t have a way of telling Kasamatsu; he doesn’t have his number and he’s not asking Kuroko to ask Kise for it—that would just be too much, too soon. Too soon for what, Hyuuga doesn’t know, but for whatever.)

That kind of feeling keeps showing up, even when Kasamatsu comes back, all of a sudden, making a drive against him, the way he pops up defensively, the look on his face when they’re scoping out opponents for a two-on-two, tanned skin of his stomach (where’s he been going around shirtless?) when he lifts his shirt to wipe the sweat off, the way his eyes follow Hyuuga’s to that space on him, like he knows something Hyuuga doesn’t, like the weird feeling is visible, just not to Hyuuga. (Maybe Kasamatsu feels it, too; maybe he wants to keep showing up.)

“Hey,” Kasamatsu says.

The ball sits between them, slightly deflated, too much to play with anymore.

“Yeah?” says Hyuuga.

“Do you like me?” says Kasamatsu.

“Yeah,” says Hyuuga. “Why would I play with you if I didn’t?”

“No,” says Kasamatsu, his cheeks coloring a little bit redder. “Do you like me, like want to go out with me?”

“What? No, I,” says Hyuuga, and then he shuts his mouth.

He doesn’t; the sentence should be easy to complete (“I like girls; I like Riko” except he doesn’t like Riko, okay? And—he does like girls; he’s just). Kasamatsu looks like he’s waiting, and then after a few seconds like he’s not anymore. He holds out his hand and grabs Hyuuga’s; it’s not like a girls, small but hard and rough, nails stubby and split against his skin.

“Idiot,” says Kasamatsu.

He doesn’t let go, and Hyuuga doesn’t take his hand back.

"You have to unburden yourself," Kagami says, like it's the most simple thing in the world. "That's what the Zone is all about. You need to concentrate so hard that nothing else matter to you."

"I think too much," Himuro mutters, frowning to himself. "I'm always thinking too much. Is there some kind of way to shut the thoughts off?"

"I don't think that there's a guaranteed way," Kagami says doubtfully. "I don't know. I'm not really an expert when it comes to the Zone."

"But you've been in it more times than anyone else," Himuro points out, frown growing even deeper. "Surely, you would know something."

"I don't know." Kagami shrugs. "Aomine used to talk like he knows it inside and out, back when he'd only been in it once. I don't really know if anyone can really be considered an expert on the Zone when it's such a weird thing in the first place. It's probably different for everyone, too."

"Great," Tatsuya sighs. "Even more obstacles."

"I don't know if it helps to think of them as obstacles, or something stopping you from getting to your goals," Kagami says doubtfully. "It's just something that you have to feel, you know? I don't think I can properly explain it to you, even if I tried."

Tatsuya sighs, sitting back in his chair. "Okay. So I'll start with the first step you mentioned. Unburden my mind."

"As much as you can," Kagami says encouragingly. "If it's not a thought you don't need at the time, push it out. I think t's easier for this to happen when you're actually playing a game, because it's one thing to know how it works in theory and it's another thing to know what your emotions are doing when you're on the court, in a competitive game."

"I guess so," Tatsuya allows. "But once I have this figured out, Taiga…"

Kagami grins. "I'll play against you as many times as you want, Tatsuya. Bring it on."

They don't have any scores to settle any more, but that just means that they can go even harder against each other, challenging and pushing, and Himuro absolutely loves it. One on ones with Kagami now feel the way that they always should have, before Himuro let his bitterness get caught up in his enjoyment of the game. He knows better now, though.

He takes a deep breath, and lets that thought go.
