The way they all tease Iwaizumi is filled with so much humour and affection, and the entire absurd situation, in which Iwaizumi is intent on winning a toy from a claw machine for Oikawa, is based on what I love so much about iwaoi: the deep affection and friendship that underlines their relationship. I’m not even sure which visual I love more: iwaoi’s ridiculous bench date, Matsukawa in the pond, Kindaichi circling around the combini trying to hatch an egg, or Iwaizumi sticking the melona bar into Oikawa’s open mouth. But all of it is truly funny, and I’m such a sucker for good third year Seijou dynamics.

Why is this work awesome?: Not even gonna lie, I love girls, and I love when Chiha writes them as girls. This is a hilarious fill that deals with everybody’s periods synching up, and how Oikawa vies for “alpha female” AND HER TEAM PERIOD SPREADSHEETS OH MY GOD, but even with everybody being hilarious and dramatic during shark week, it’s so lovely and gentle in the way Iwaizumi and Oikawa take it upon themselves to be the ones helping the other girls.

The way Imaizumi and Naruko ruffle each others’ feathers is always a delight, and it’s no less delightful here in the context of Lance and Keith -- Naruko being indignant about their bonding moment is so classic. BUT IT’S REALLY THE PUNCHLINE THAT’S THE CUTEST, truly the best bonding moment of all.

The “what if” is so devasting, especially the way the would have turned out not for each other, and everything about the way they make each other better is really affecting. Not even gonna lie, this almost made me cry for a ship I wasn’t even invested in, and I finished reading it rooting for them so hard. Go Team Nijiaka 2.0

Why is this work awesome?: HOLY MOTHER OF DOMESTIC FLUFF. Let me tell you how much this piece of writing makes me so incredibly happy. The way Sousuke is described as focusing on Makoto rather than listening to one of his favorites songs is beautiful in that subtle way. SOUMAKO DANCING LIKE AN ADORABLE, DORKY, LOVEY DOVEY COUPLE. pLEASEE my soul has been saved. They were too cute. omg, I'm so happy you liked the tree fic! I didn't really expect anyone to notice that one but it has a happy little place in my psyche. I think a lot about how trees are some of the largest and longest-lived organisms on the planet, and the more I think about it, the more it seems far-fetched to me to assume that they don't have any kind of awareness or consciousness. Why is this work awesome?: Kuroo & Daishou break up and Kenma has to deal with the aftermath. like the first fill, it feels very Real and very teenager (like... breaking up and then continuing to hang out with each other and with the same circle of friends but needing to keep up the facade of still being Mad at each other because pride, and That One Friend who ends up being stuck in the middle as mediator and being so fed up of it, all of that is so real). again, i love all their classmates' reactions, how nosy everyone is, some ppl starting a fanclub and /shipping them/, omg. Kenma's reactions were also great (wanting to laugh, just playing his game when everyone else is focused on the dramatics, being like "who are you" when someone asks him about what he thinks of what's going on).

i also love how this keeps with the canon of "they've always gotten on each other's nerves" (even when they like each other and are dating!!). we're never really shown /why/ they always got on each other's nerves aside from what we saw in the match, but i like imagining that it went something kinda like this, pfft. i started laughing really hard at the stuff at the end (the emo songs, Kuroo making Daishou take back his belongings (pencils and erasers), and finally Kuroo acting like it was nothing out of the ordinary when they broke up /again/.

i was super happy to get not one but /two/ hilarious fills for this prompt :3

i LOVE...... seeing Oikawa riled up, and that Shirabu is able to rile him up that much. (i honestly feel like he could if he put his mind to it.) (i laughed long and hard at Oikawa calling him a misbehaving hamster, holy /shit/, but i also love that he has a nickname for him too?? Oikawa /knows Shirabu/??? he's not just this irritating setter on an enemy team?)

also, that kiss at the end, oh man, Shirabu grabbing Ushi's collar ;; i'm yelling kinda at the idea of Oikawa pulling out of Iwa's grasp and stomping over to continue the competition, AND at the idea of Hanamaki's teasing abt Ushi and Shirabu banging on the court actually,, happening, (???)

i probably appreciate Shirabu's characterization the most tbh, since i think it's really easy to see him as hesitant and self-effacing (well, bc he is the latter thing /on purpose/), but boy has Guts & i love that that's evident here, that he thinks nothing of smooching Ushi in front of the entire court if it means getting what he wants i.e. pissing Oikawa off a little. (i also may or may not have thought the possibility of him having a Thing for being watched as well though which is ;;; )

finally... i also really enjoy reading complicated relationships, or relationships that are probably romantic but the ppl involved aren't really sure what's happening, seeing those kinds of emotional roller coasters unfold is always fun.

SWEET. i love the idea of Shirabu obsessing over Ushijima's smile, both when he thought it's something that he couldn't ever bank on seeing, and after, when he sees it directed at /him/, i love that he wants to touch Ushi's face and stuff, ugh. i love all the descriptions. everything is so vivid and easy to picture. i also love that Shirabu thinks of Ushi as a puzzle to figure out, i feel like it fits his analytical nature really well, and Ushi is so different to him it probably does feel like that to Shirabu for a good while, even by the time they've started to work together well as ace+setter. finally-- i love the little moment with Tendou's comments at the beginning, it was a good little moment of general team interaction that was nice to see as well.

(and...... the descriptions of said banging were very hot, A+ ;;; especially Iwa realizing Oikawa is frustrated abt initially being on the same team as Ushi and fucking it out of him.) once they start involving Ushi, i actually really liked that it was awkward btw him and Iwa at first since Oikawa was the "middle"? in a lot of fic i read everything goes super smoothly, which can be nice, but i figure it's p realistic to have the other two people who were brought together by the third to be kinda awkward at each other for a while at first.

i also really enjoyed reading Iwaizumi & Ushijima slowly becoming friends? it's something i've thought about a lot, we don't see much of it in canon and we know that Iwa dislikes Ushi at the very least bc he's on an enemy team and he's irritatingly good at volleyball but... i think they could probably become friends given the chance, their personalities seem like they would mesh well.

Why is this work awesome?: so i prompted what was in the title and i was definitely thinking something sweet or heartwarming, but i ended up getting two silly fills instead and i'm infinitely grateful, lol. (not that they weren't heartwarming in their own ways??) (i also love that they were both about Kindaichi crying about popular media, bless.)

in this first fill, i love that Kunimi knows Kindaichi well enough that he can understand what he's saying through his crying even though no one else can, but he's such a complete troll about it. it's also really cute that the team seems so concerned for him even though they have no idea what's going on. and i giggled at everyone's reactions at Kunimi saying he's crying over their senpai's looks B) i'm really? pleased at the dacryphilia and Kunimi liking that this is kinda humiliating for Kindaichi??? also of course Oikawa kind of Knows that that's how Kunimi feels. i liked this both for kinkuni and all the entertaining interactions among Seijou as a whole :]

this is the second fill, and i. wow, where to even start. KINDAICHI CRYING ABOUT SHIPPING??? Kunimi just casually SnapChatting the entire Trainwreck and not doing anything to help? the cosplayers are also really cute as girls Kunimi and Kindaichi (Kunimi's deadpan face and Kindaichi's hairstyle!!) i also love the implication that Seijou has Ship Wars within their team, pfft.

Why is this work awesome?: this is like... the third time i've recced this artist i think so it's PROB P SAFE TO SAY I'M A FAN OF THEIR ART AND ART STYLE IN GENERAL, but for this fill specifically: wow, what. a wonderfully cut Iwaizumi (who is confusedly showing off) (i really want to know who asked him to, lol), what excellent arm muscles. i love that it was the whole team who was included and not just Yahaba tbh, i love everyone's different facial expressions and reactions (even though they're all equally Hella Gay) and Yahaba is just... perfect. it would make the best reaction image for whenever i see beautifully drawn Iwaizumis.
